Red

‘Lest we forget’

White has a purpose but one that should not be done to usurp the red one and dont get me started on the white feather !

Red, of course.

What happens to the money people give for the white ones?

Hi Flanker Man,
Reason I asked was today as I was working here in our Memorial Garden in Edinburgh, 2 School kids came in wearing White Poppies.
One thing I have noticed is that there seems to be fewer and fewer people wearing the White Poppy, a case of back to basics……………….

Surely anyone in favour of a white poppy would not be reading this forum???

It therefore stands to reason that all the answers will be ‘Red’ – and rightly so.

Red.

And from the last talk I gave on flying boats to a local engineering society, the fee went to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Red. For once I’m actually not working the 11th, hope to be at the ceremony at CWH for the first time in years. Got a “pre-thrill” round noon today when Firefly C-GBDG was growling round over north Hamilton…must be something Naval going on downtown or at the lakefront today.

Back in June my dad and I were at the new Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Atop the museum roof is a kind of small meadow planted with thousands of scarlet poppies; we went up there for a look, heard a mighty roar, there went a CF-18 Hornet ripping by. Shiver…

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a white poppy and what is it meant to signify?

No question in my mind, it has to be red.

But to answer Mike’s question, there’s an interesting history behind the idea of white poppies on here – http://www.ppu.org.uk/poppy/new/index_frame.html

Red… the only colour it has been, the only colour it shall be.
