Red Tape challenge for GA

Some might recall that last year I mentioned on this forum that Grant Shapps, now the Minister Without Portfolio, had asked for submissions from all those with an interest in General Aviation to write to him with their ideas for eliminating ‘red tape’ and un-necessary regulation from GA.

I responded and have just received a letter from the Dept. of Transport inviting all those who responded to attend an AeroExpo meeting on 1st June next at Sywell. The purpose of the meeting is to hear and debate the decisions arising from the information received by the Red Tape Challenge panel.

One decision, is that within the overall administration of the CAA there will be now a specialist GA Unit whose prime purpose will be to prune all excessive regulation.

Tickets are available free to those who wrote in response to the original brief.

For anyone interested, I might be able to provide a ‘link’ to obtain tickets.

I thought long and hard and decided it was probably a waste of time. Better by far to put your point in writing. I thought that it would be a ‘junket’ for just a few establised speakers without much of an opportunity to question or query.

I sould have been wrong !
