I own my own house.ergo, I can do anything I want to it, although there are various rules for extentions etc……………………..WRONG.
Yesterday, I put up a flag pole holder on the street facing wall of MY house, then proceeded to put a flag pole into the holder, and mount a Union flag thereon.
Today, he door bell rang, and this jobsworthy told me, I had better take it down over the festive period. I told him that was WHY I had put it up.I said there was no Law that prevented me from flying it. REPLY… Well, it may offend our foreign friends……
The second word was OFF, I leave it to your imagination to think what the first word was.

Jim,
If you do take action, you’ll very satisfyingly be annoying someone who in the first place, annoyed you. Your actions might be benefical in that it will make them stop and think twice before inflicting their officious trivia on someone else.

skeeler. Thanks for the advice. I am mulling over what John Green informed me of.and mulling over the consequences if I do make an official complaint.

If the ‘jobs worth’ reappears (which I doubt), refer him to this – http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/general/news/stories/2012/jan12/120112/120112_4
and then this – http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/planningandbuilding/pdf/2060458.pdf
to convince him that you don’t need any permission to fly any national flag nor any permission for erecting a vertical or horizontal flag pole for doing so, then point out that in the unlikely event of anybody being offended by said flag then that’s their problem and they can choose to go somewhere else to get over it!
Job done!
Steve.

I don’t have to prove whether I believe your story or not – I’ve already said that I don’t.
Don’t stand there holding up that hoop, because I won’t be jumping through it.
I’ve said all I have to say on the matter now, Jim.

I am sure you would like to hammer home your point Lance, so taking a leaf out of your book when you were a Mod, and using your exact words, “Prove it”

I repeat myself all the time. Each time I do it makes even more sense and is even more entertaining.

Perhaps. Maybe you should check again?
I still don’t believe a word of your story, but it’s not worth arguing over.

I dont think so, Yes, I know it was Arthur, I have gone back through every thread I have posted as I am sure you have, and nowhere have or can I see any reference to flags outside my house.
Senior moment ?.

No, I’m fairly sure it was from you.
Looking back up the thread, I see I’m not the only one who remembers it.
It’s not a good sign when you start repeating yourself, you know.

G.A. You may well have read something like this in the past, but from me?. don’t think so.

Sorry, I don’t believe a word of this.
I’m sure I’ve read a very similar story from you at some point in the past.

Arfur. If you cannot get your facts right, as you obviosly didn’t then you can hardly call it a debate can you.
I don’t expect everyone to agree with me at all, you say what you want, and I will also, I am not that inclined to expect anything less of anyone.
Guess you and I will allways agree to disagree. Now go to bed like a good boy:)

In this case with regard to flying flags I am agreeing with but if you want pick an argument then fair enough. You seem to want to quibble over the smallest point in my posts. What can I say?

Hi Jim
You would love it here in Howden town centre, at the moment. The whole town is covered in Union Flags. Apparently some kind of party or something going off 🙂
.
Hi Ben. As a matter of fact I too think I would enjoy it.
I drove down quite a lot of our inner Town estates, and in total I saw just 5 Union Flags flying, from houses.rather a shame realy, not quite the spirit that there used to be once upon a time.
It’s a time for celebration, reminds me of the street party we had in our streets when the Queen was crowned. I think that the best times, inventions have been made in my lifetime, so much in so little time.

Don’t try and deflect the point by quibbling over “visitors” or “foreign friends”.
They’re pretty much the same.
If you think people might have a “pop” at you, why in God’s name do you start these threads where somebody might just disagree with you. If all you expect is everyone to join your rhetoric in support then, I’m afraid, in this case you’re sadly mistaken.

They give away copies of the Daily Mail in the departure lounge at Stansted
I read Tuesday’s copy as I waited
It’s a god-awful paper, worse than I remember
It’s readers must live in a constant state of vacillation between terror and depression.
It can’t be good for them.
