Hi Chaps and Chapesses,
Just reacquainting myself with the collection of over 300 vintage aircraft instruments (long story – not had the time etc., etc.,)
Came across the above, dated 1940, Type 1A. It seems to be in really good condition, p/n 6A/1302
Delving on the web, Reid & Sigrist were refurbing Spitfires and Defiants at this time.
Could this be from an early Mark 1 Spitfire? Having looked at early Spitfire panels, it seems to be contemporary.
Thinking of putting it on eBay, but if anyone is interested, PM me…..

Reid and Sigrist manufactured Turn and Slip Indicators for all aircraft types. As the maker they put their name on it.
Organisations that overhauled aircraft did not re I’d other instrument manufacturers as there own.

Further research indicates that on the date stamped, R&S were only repairing Spitfires and Defiants. It’s very possible that this was “withdrawn” and used later in Mosquito/Lancaster, but the 1940 date is the smoking gun. Flashing any light at it doesn’t work – it doesn’t glow….
Just thought you’d be interested!
