Fantastic act of rememberance in Canada at the moment….the first colour coin issued is a rememberance quarter. Mighty nice it is too and a big famous chain of tasty coffee and donuts are pubilcizing the coin and giving them in change. They feature a red poppy in the centre.
This is such a nice idea that should be adopted by other countries IMHO.
The local CFB base also reminded people that a couple days ago, 64 years ago, Sqn Ldr McNab, a RCAF Battle of Britain pilot, was awarded his DFC.
Both nice acts of rememberance!

I had a 50p coin a few years ago commemorating I think the fortieth aniversary of Arnhem. It had a scene with gliders on the back. Does anyone remember this coin?
Cheers

Yep, that is a nice coin, need to get the Guernsey one!!. Tim Hortons have some really nice posters advertising the coins here with an RCAF side cap and DFC in a frame.

The Royal Mint produced a £5 coin for the 60th anniversary of the landings in Normandy earlier this year which included a red poppy on one side. It was actually produced for Guernsey and is a beautiful coin. Needless to say, I made sure I got one for myself!
