I am disappointed that the Gay Cake thread has been removed. It was a discussion about a news event, and in removing the whole thread you pander to those who preach inequality and choose intolerance over balance. Could not the offending post have been removed with a link to the appropriate section (presumably #5?) in the Code of Conduct? To remove the thread without comment, whilst confusing other members, will also risk similar events possibly happening again (especially to those who do not know what was posted) since we have no guidance as to what is and is not acceptable.
I know the reason for removal but, as I have implied above, to hack off the head because you have cut a finger is confusing.

I think it was removed because all the cake had been eaten!
I do agree that an explanation would have been nice though.
