Looks like a scale Slepcev replica from Australia. Fair bit smaller than the original, brilliantly slow flying and manouverable. There was one displayed at Biggin Hill 15 years or so ago.

On the bright side…if you have to have to make an off airport landing in minimal room, a Storch is the plane you want to be in.
Glad the pilot wasn’t badly injured and the ship looks repairable.

Very unfortunate for the pilot, but if you look at Upland, Califonia on Google maps, you see his predicament.
East of Cable airport, there is just NOWHERE to land, just miles of dense housing in a grid pattern. Cable was founded in 1945, no doubt in relatively open countryside, but now it is totally surrounded by development. Greed trumps safety, every time.
I see a DC-3 on the ramp there, and dread to imagine the result of engine failure on climb out.
