Does anyone know of a replica Huricane that could be put out on an airfield as dressing for a Feature film? Will be shooting through August / September in the UK.
If someone has one thats a bit scruffy then we’d be happy to spruce it up! Any leads much appreciated!

Unfortunately the cockpit scenes for the Pan movie never made it past the final cut. Not sure what happened to it. I did inquire as to its whereabouts with the guys who made it but all they could say was that it was delivered and nothing more. I did hear that it was the basis for the cockpit in the up and coming Dunkirk movie but couldn’t confirm that

Peter Pan and Dunkirk both had their own Spit cockpits but I’m not sure about a hurri.
There was that polish Sqd thing maybe a year ago that took the HAC Hurri to Eastern Europe? From what I hear the producers have yet to deliver a film but I could be wrong. I know a replica Hurricane got built for it but no idea how good it was or what became of it.

Wasnt there a cockpit section of a Hurri built for a film sometime ago?

Guys, thank you, some great leads and I really appreciate it. I’ll pick up the phone in the morning.
I’ll always try and steer towards the real thing when possible, and inevitably they will get used. The replica request was purely because some airfield scenes might well be shot “off airfield” if you know what I mean. The ability to truck some in would likely be the only way to get that to work.

And your budget – don’t forget that!

Or you could use a real one – there are 3 airworthy at Old Warden Aerodrome with the Shuttleworth Collection, one at Biggin Hill with the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar, another in Hangar 3 at IWM Duxford airfield with the Historic Aircraft Collection, one at North Weald with the Hangar 11 collection (Currently for sale at £1.9M + VAT) and another being restored by Hawker Restorations and almost completes – a lot might also depend on which airfield or location you are filming at?

Tangmere museum have a replica of an early (Battle Of France-era) Hurricane which certainly used to have a car engine allowing it to taxy etc.

This group have one in their Hangar at Blackpool: http://www.spitfiredisplayteam.co.uk/
Not sure how easily transportable it is, though they have recently done a considerable amount of work on it.

Or – contact the Royal Air Force Museum at RAF Cosford on +44 1902 376 200. The replica fibreglass Hurricane that was displayed outside the RAF Museum at Hendon is currently stored in a dismantled state outside one of the Cosford hangars. It also looks to be in need of a paint spruce up after a long time out in the elements. I’ll post a picture of it for you shortly.
