I’m thinking about getting a new A-2 flight jacket to replace my Aviation Leathercraft model. I believe the best choices are either Eastmans or Aero Leather. Just wondering what are peoples impressions of these companies jackets? Aero Leather have chocolate brown steerhide A-2s for £200 which I was thinking about getting. Anyone have one? I would ideally like a Seal Brown colour though.
Thanks in advance.

Mines an Eastman, i looked hard into what the best A-2 on the market is & it was a tie between Eastman & The Real McCoys. Eastman won as they’re in the U.K. They always have a stall at DX airshows & are really helpful in getting a perfect fit.
Worth every penny.

With these stores, do you make a point of turning up in person or order online then hope for the best?
Ordered both my Eastmans by mail order, both have been spot on perfect size wise.
SWIMBO’s tiny size A-2 was a little used second hand example, but I had previously talked to Gary Eastman about small sizes and he suggested it best to either visit the factory or one of the Eastman trade stands at one of the Duxford Airshows, to check her out size wise before ordering. We were going to do this when this s/h one turned up out of the blue from a friend that was selling it.

Eastmans…..no question 🙂
Go for an Eastman A2 in horsehide, rather than steerhide.
I’ve had my Eastman A-2 for 16 years now, and an Eastman B-3 for about 8 years.
Even SWIMBO has a tiny size Eastman A-2. 😀

Fair enough, but I think you’ll find that the subtle detail changes that happened to A2s over the WW2 period mean that most jackets are ‘authentic’ to one version or another.
My Cirrus is getting on for fifteen years old and is just achieving ‘fifty mission’ character 🙂 The last thing I’d want is a shiny new one.
Anyway, good luck with your hunt, let us know what you decide.

Basically for two reasons. I would like a really accurate one with all the details of the original, and secondly the lining in mine is getting holes where it is attatched to the waist band. It is 9 years old.

I’ve no particular view on this, the best one to get is the one YOU like the most, it’s you who’ll be wearing it.
I just wanted to ask why you are replacing the Aviation Leathercraft one?
