There is a possibility that I may have the opportunity of visiting Washington sometime late August, with a few trips to Dulles on the cards.
Anyone have any info regarding veiwing at the airport with regards to both spotting and photography.

Nothing much goes on at Wilmington Delaware… There’s a load of biz jets there (as befits the place where a lot of US corporations are incorporated) but very little in the way of scheduled traffic as it is far too close to the major hubs at Philadelphia and Baltimore to make volume air travel viable. As also befits an airport with lots of biz jets, overtly lingering to view is not always encouraged if detected!

Dulles / Wilmington
The Dulles trip is now confirmed with the addition of two days at Wilmington Delaware thrown in. Anybody have any experience of this airport from a spotting perspective?

Do not forget the Smithsonian museum at Dulles! One of the largest aviation museums in the world.

Its good… Top floor of the multi-storey car park next to the terminal (parking lot in American!) is fine for viewing and photos. Call the airport cops before you go up there let them know what you’re doing and you’ll be fine. Afternoons best for long hauls. Alternatively, do try Washington National which is much closer to downtown and which is great for photos if you set yourself up in the park at the end of the runway, which is known as Gravely Point.
