Hello all,
Attached is a picture of Vicky as she was when at Hatch, Beds.
in the front central area of the picture there is a blue cradle/frame structure. This item provides further support for the fuselage when the aircraft is on jacks. It locates under the fuselage in the area around the where the mainplanes meet the fuselage.
Has anyone got any pics of one of these items in use under a Viscount and would they have any knowledge of exactly where it sits under the fuselage of a Viscount?
Regards PP

Thanks very much all for your help.
I thought posting here may help and save me going through more “official” channels so to speak.
Much appreciated. Hopefully the next time I post will be pics of the old girl back together and standing no her legs for the first time in 10+ years 😀
Ritch I will drop you a pm shortly as we really must catch up.

Max is right about how the frame works/sits. I recall we used the same unit when we disassembled ZK-BRF at NAC’s workshops back in the 1970s. So when we re-assembled her we improvised but used the same fuseframe hardpoints as Max alludes to.
Our cradle was some borrowed units padded out to fit!

Lindsay Wise worked at Vickers Hurn and was the resident maintenance inspector for the ANA Viscounts. You can probably contact him for information through the Airways Museum association.

Hopes this helps a little
Hi Martin
The framework sits under the center fuselage and supports the airframe at the forward and aft spar pickup frames, that is the two main hoop frames that the spars pick up on.
If you have a copy of the book “Airliner Tech volume 11” there are some photos in that which show you how it all works. The airframe manual will have a station diagram in it that will show the frames concerned.
Hope this helps a little.
We must get over to see you again soon, it’s been a long winter!

Does this look like part of the cradle system in the second Viscount photo?
