I am seeking people with military fighter engineering skills to assist in the restoration of a Legend. There must be someone out there who is skilled/qualified? This is purely on a voluntary basis (Labour of Love). I need Painters/Sprayers/Metal Workers/Mechanics/Cement Workers/Lifting Equipment etc. All materials will hopefully be donated by the air force concerned. Many thanks.

Hi All,
Papa Lima, Thats the one I got to see her fly what a screamer.
Hey Albert I think it you look at F-100f post about ownership it states waiting for USAF permission.
Well it WOULD need USAF permission, because all the French Air Force F-100s are technically still ‘owned’ by the USAF. When this one and all the others were retired to Sculthorpe, they were sold off by the USAF, as they were part of the MAP programme.

He also has the only Draken that is still flown
Are the National Test Pilot School ex RDanAF Drakens no longer flown? Anyway, the Austrian AF still flies them (although not for long anymore)… 😀

Mark,
I believe he still has is also but its a two seater and I believe it’s done up in Natural metal while the other is a single seater and done up in Nam Liz markings.

crazymainer mentioned a Draken flying in the USA. I guess it must be this one, N35350 “Spirit of Sacramento” seen here with its pilot Skip Holm and owner Greg Forbes at Stead Airport in Reno during the Reno Air Races.

Hello to all who have replied trying to guess the whereabouts of my Super Sabre…I do not remember ever mentioning that it is currently, or ever has been a display aircraft. Who knows, it may be sitting in a barn or hangar somewhere!? And remember I have more than one to restore…Bet that gets your thinking caps on!? Many thanks for ALL your replies though, it’s nice to get feedback when I am only a recent recruit to your forum. 🙂
Trying to throw us off the scent, eh? Wouldn’t mind betting this is 63938 ex French Air Force as guessed by Damien. Otherwise someone, somewhere would have reported another!
Well, well, and here she is in Albert’s Archives 35 years ago..!

Hi F-100f,
Do I get the prize if I guess how many 100 you have. Since you are waiting tohear back from the USAFM for ownership, I take it then they are still on at least two of the USAF Base’s. There is one that is a Gate Guard and my sorce’s at the USAFM tell me that you have the remains of up to four.
Well How close am I. If you need any help from this side of the pond go to the Wix board and post in are parts section.
I visit a guy out in Sacromento who has the only Single Seat 100 flying got some nice photos. He also has the only Drakenthat is still flown and is rebuilding another one.
I know he has alot of spares for the 100 in storage. I saw a Hot Section siting in the corner along with two Canopys.
Cheers

Well there’s only one F-100F in the UK that I’m aware of, .
I’m not too good with jet mark numbers. What’s the one on a pole at Lakenheath?

Your Reply
Hi there Crazymainer
Could you give me more details of where I should post please. Did you mean on this site?
Many thanks.
Hi F-100F,
May I suggest that you leave a post over on the Warbird Resource groups forum and leave a post on your on-going restoration project.
Their is at least two wixs memebers who have access to century aircraft parts.
Cheers Crazymainer

You could paint it in the colours of a U.K based F-100 if you wished! There are certainly some nice colour schemes associated with the type .
I wish you luck.

Hi Mark.
Thanks for your reply. I know I should post more information but at the moment I cannot. When I get confirmation from the President and USAAF to go ahead with this (I do have agreement from custodians of the plane/s THERE ARE MORE than one) I shall post more information. Dedicated volunteers will travel! My project is based in South East England. I have approximately 6 “ground crew” on board including a metallurgist, 2 painters with scientific backgrounds, a structural engineer (not military) and me, a female with loads of enthusiam, a GREAT idea and a penchant for fighters!! I do want to generate lots of interest!
Welcome from me too,
If you are serious though you really should post a lot more information about the project, including location to at least county level. Volunteers need to be motivated but generally do not like travelling very long distances. If the project sounds enticing enough you will generate interest.
Good luck!

Re: Restoration
No, unfortunately it will never be air worthy again. It is my plan to return it to as pristine condition as possible inside and out and get it moved, lifted and mounted as a “Gate Guardian” in Vietnam colours. More Information will be posted as and when USAAF and President Bush give me their agreement. I have the agreement in principal of the Custodians of the plane/s.
My project includes other fighters as well but the F-100f is my priority.
Is the intention to return it to flying condition?
I also agree with the above posts; we need (lots) more information.
