Having been out of action for nearly two years for corrosion treatment and repairs, the Breitling SuperConstellation HB-RSC is back in action again. She flew to Zurich on April 11th for a fresh paint job, and she was rolled out in the new scheme on Saturday.

[QUOTE=nielis;1739351]don’t forget the dutch connie at the aviodrome. she is still grounded due to finance problem, insurance and crew qualification as far I know[/QUOTE
By no means forgotten! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the day when we’ll be able to see L749 Constellation (Aviodrome), L1049 SuperConstellation (Breitling) and L1649 Starliner (Lufthansa) in the air together. A Connie ‘full house’, and in Europe to boot! 🙂

It would be great to see this aircraft in the UK again. It might not be a legend in military circles but it certainly is among commercial fans. Although this particular aircraft lacks a civil pedigree it perfectly represents the breed & looks even better in its new colour scheme.
Whilst on the subject of propliners, now that we no longer have our own airworthy DC6 perhaps Red Bull could visit with theirs, it would make a good support aircraft for the P38!

I seem to remember one at Cranfield perhaps a PFA rally about ten years ago, Beautifull aircraft.

Newforest: which airline? She was ex USAF.

Don’t quibble! 😀 USAF and ‘Constellation’ doesn’t have the same connotation or nostalgia as a civil version. 🙂

It visited Duxford for Flying Legends in 2004. Very impressive, gorgeous aircraft.

Not if we’re talking Legends. I have been every year since 2005, and have never seen the Connie. Well, actually I have seen that Connie, but the date was 1993 and the plane was at Camarillo, CA.

Excellent news, let’s hope we see her in the UK soon. Am I right in thinking her only visit so far was Legends 2004?
I’m sure her last Dx visit was more recent than that, 2006 perhaps?? Either way, it would be nice to see her do a UK show or two again. Having looked at her summer schedule on the website, she looks like being pretty busy this year, although sadly there’s no mention of a UK visit.

This is good news. It is a while since we used to see her purring into Geneva, visual, past our house!

Unfortunately not in airline livery but thanks Breitling anyway! 😉

What a beauty would love to see that come over to the UK.

Great news. I would love to see a Connie in the air again.
Last one I saw was N11SR taking off from the end of the runway at Southend shortly before she was impounded in the Middle East for arms smuggling (I think).
