Can anyone advise me on the format the inscription would take on the edge of a Victory medal and War medal issued to an officer who served in the RFC but issued when it had become the RAF?
My grandfather was in the RFC in Egypt but was hospitalised then invalided out/medically discharged (still trying to find out details of his RFC service). His Medal Card states RAF. I never knew him and the medals have long since disappeared (might be in someones private collection somewhere) so I’m planning on getting copies but want to have the right inscription put on the edge.

Go on Pprune and ask in the military forum, one of the guys used to deal in them.

If the War and Victory medals are his only entitlement then they should be impressed with RAF after his name.
