Hi,
I found a photo of a PR34A Mosquito at Iwakuni air base, Japan 1953. I believe it is from Squadron 81; however I am unsure of the mission. Perhaps it was a pathfinder for Austers of 656 Squadron (the collection of photos included a number of 656 photos) or was on a recon photo mission. I like to think the later, as the RAF had no other reconnaissance platform in the region with the range and capability of the PR.34a in 1953. Can anyone enlighten me on this topic, with regard to this plane, and suggest the purpose of the Mossie in Japan? Secondly can anyone identify the color of the spinners. Plane appears overall silver, which does not comport with the PRU blue of other PR34a’s in service with Squadron 81 at the time. Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
