RIAT – Saturday

I though this was an excellent show – better than was to be expected if you looked at the list of participants. We missed the first couple of hours of the flying display due to unforseen circumstances, which sadly contained the C-17, Mirage 2000, Apache, DHL 757, Tornado F.3 and the Dutch F-16, so no pics of those at all. 🙁

Weather was perfect, and by mid afternoon there was some really lovely light for things taking off, and the Merlin display inparticular benefitted from the afternoon sunshine.

Thought the static could have been laid out better, although I didn’t see it all, and what I did see I was rushing through end of the day. Didn’t see the A-7, A-10s or F-15Es at all! 🙁 I’m definantly doing more than one day at RIAT in future – it’s far too big to fit into one day (let alone the half day I had to squeeze it into!).

Once again, a great day spent in great company – you know who you are, and it’s you guys that make attending airshows so much fun.

Anyway – onward with photos……

BlueRobin, we’ve done this before – a thousand times. The description for this forum says…

Discuss all aspects of our aviation heritage and preservation scene, including airshows, museums and restorations.

There was once a threat of an airshow/photography forum, but nothing ever came of it because people said they’d rather have their photos mixed into the historic discussions. Make your minds up! If you don’t want them here – say so, I’ll pull them and save my PhotoBucket bandwidth.

Anyway, to everyone else, thanks for the comments. 🙂

BlueRobin,
How old is the Hawk or the Jag? 30 years old I believe they are. B 52 and Rockwell B 1 are older still.
LN Strike Eagle,
The Spits and the Red Arrows shot is Brilliant. Many thanks for your photos.

A Chav Hawk? Outstanding.

Apparently the pilot also had a Burberry-covered bonedome, with furry dice hanging off the gunsight, and ‘Wayne’ and ‘Kerr’ sunstrips in the canopy. It couldn’t be determined whether or not he’d had the exhaust drilled out, or whether his 4500 watt Goodmans speakers were working, because the sound was drowned out by the deafening roar of a fairground ride (as is usual at airshows). And unfortunately the sunlight seems to have been too bright to determine whether or not he had purple w***** lights under the wings… 😉

Cracking shots though LN – doesn’t the Jaguar look odd half retracted? And as for the raw power coming out the back of that B1… 😀
