Currently we are working on Auster VF608 and some of the ribs need repair. Up what I understood the Piper repair sets could be used as well blank metal sheet.
I wonder if some of you has used the Piper set for Auster repair?
Up what i understood 2 sorts of repair strip should be available. The straight, flat strip and a curved strip which is to be used for front edge rib parts.

Above link only shows the flat, straight strip so I wonder where to get the curved versions.
Attached are some samples of what I found of earlier repairs. The curved repair looks okay but the other probably was done by a local farrier….

Are both repairs on the same rib? In my mind both repairs look questionable. In the second picture the upper angle is also cracked at the first fastener at the web. Would sourcing a new upper angle be possible to get rid of these ghastly examples of metalwork? :p
No worry, both ribs showed won’t be used. So far we have 3 wings and a load of additional parts which we try to work into a good starboard and portside wing.

Pop rivet fasteners are accepted if used properly although the Auster Mk.6 repair manual says screws A32-A12 to be used originally.
Clearly there are rules how to attach the strips incl. distance between fasteners…

Just an observation. Did they care about “edge distance” and are pop rivets the accepted fasteners ?
