I appreciate Mr.Richard Branson’s smart tactics and witty mind!
The way he established Virgin Atlantic, it was a gruelling task that he performed awsomely and his airline is successfull in many ways. But don’t you guys think that Mr. Branson is somewhat over-confident? Just making that comment because I noticed on the livery of Virgins’ planes written (No way BA/AA).
Hmmm… Is it fine to attack a company openly? Or not? Just want your opinion.
Thanks:)

Back in 1999 , during construction of the British Airways sponsored ‘London Eye’ Ferris Wheel , the planned raising into an upright position had to be delayed due to technical problems. The next day , Richard Branson arranged for an airship to fly over London with ‘BA can’t get it up’ written on the side.

I saw at Heathrow yeaterday some virgin A340 with “Mine’s bigger than your’s” and “4 engines 4 long haul” written on the side of the aircraft.
As for Branson, I think he is great.

Have you ever seen a successful business man that wasn’t confident or arrogant

I dont know about the rest of you. I have a lot of time for Richard Branson. Although his fares a slightly higher than most, I would still say they are worth flying with. He has done well to try and break up the major airlines monopolies. Hes not too arrogant unlike whats his name from Ryanair. And I take my hat of to him for trying to get a concord from BA

I admire the guy, and that includes such “digs” at rivals. He knows how to make the most out of any opportunity – like the whole Concorde saga. He’s seen in the public eye to be wishing to save Concorde, while BA are seen negatively being “mean” and not allowing a deal. He had no intention of operating one commercially as it wasn’t/isn’t viable with Airbus stopping spares, but took the opportunity to make massive publicity. Great thinking, like it or not.

Well Easyjet and Ryanair seem to say things about each other in adverts, so why cant Virgin on their aircraft? I think that either companies cant attack each other or they can. You cant say some can and others not, so its ok in my opinion.

As you observe Richard Branson over the years you’ll realise that sarcastic digs at the big players (mainly BA) are his stock in trade. Personally I don’t mind them, it makes what can often be a stuffy airline business more interesting.
Welcome to the forum by the way. 😉
