Right, heres one for you all…..

Mainly for those very knowledable in the world of paint. I’m looking for the paint codes/ mixes to make USAAF spec 14106 Shade 41 Olive Drab and spec 14106 Shade 43 Neutral Gray for my L4H. Later on I’m going to need a fair quantity for spraying the whole thing, however I’m going to need some soon for some internal fixtures and fittings.

Any help or contacts for those in the know please get in touch.

Thanks for looking. I’ve got a couple more articles to go on when I get the time. As you can see, I’ve got a fair bit of reassembly to go as it was an abandoned project. Un-doing the previous owners mods will take time however the smaller items are cleaning up well. Hopefully mine will trundle into the air towards the end of next year.

am going to be holding myself up soon if bits don’t start changing colour!

That could be read differently to what you mean! 😀

Nice website. Good luck with the project. For inspiration, here’s one a nice American called Kermit had decided to arrange with (some of) my initials.

THose are fairly easily found colours, just go to any autopaint supplier & ask for OD green & olive green. sorted.

Olive Drab 41 should be FS 34087
Neutral Gray 43 should be FS 38173

Hello Fournier Boy,

I actually work for a paint supply company, and our Paint Technician may be able to help. Two questions: 1, Are those codes the Federal Standard codes? and 2, Are you anywhere near Nottingham?

Best Regards,

Don

An idea..

Have you tried some of the Aircraft modelling websites and forums?A lot of the paint manufacturers get very close to the authentic colours these days.So a trip down to the local Hobby and Models store might be a good start..Good hunting..
