I had never considered the BBC to be in any-way right leaning (despite the past lives of some of those at the top). However some do, and they specifically identify political editor Laura Kuenssberg and her/their coverage of Corbyn’s rise to the top of the Labour party as proof of a righty bias in the organisation.
I tend to see the BBC criticised for having a lefty bias, to I find it interesting that some see a right-wing bias within their broadcasting. Perhaps the BBC is something of a Rorschach test; those tend to see the bias they want to see in what is a fairly politically neutral organisation. At the same time I’ve spoken to some Americans who are surprised by how unconsciously left-wing the BBC is, compared to US broadcasters.
All food for thought. I’m posting this today specifically because of the following article that landed on my newsfeed:
For the sake of disclosure, The Canary’s remit can be found here, I only just found out about the site and I don’t necessarily support any of their views.
Thoughts?
