So it has been certified by the Swiss CAA. It’s officially named “Junkers F 13” now not Rimowa anymore. Manufacturer’s name has been changed to Junkers Flugzeugwerke AG at Dübendorf in Switzerland.

This `Bestmann´ is a Yak-11 project.
Lol, thank you harvardfreund 🙂 Yes, the restoration facility does indeed look interesting!

@ Mothminor: pics are made by RIMOWA for media use. I have not been at www.kaelin.aero – yet…
This `Bestmann´ is a Yak-11 project. unfortunately I do not know any Details regarding that aircraft.
Seems to be a very interesting restoration facility: If you look at their webpage, you can find a Hawker Hurricane restoration Project 🙂

Have done a little story regarding this project (including some pics like this of the aircraft´s construction in Southern Germany)
Excellent story and photographs of a very worthy project – great to see the various stages of the construction. Thanks for posting this 🙂
Can I ask what other aircraft were there when you took the photo first left, middle row of the block of 15 photos? They look historic too – possibly a Bestmann in the middle?
The link to www.pozefilm.de is also well worth following!

Currently this machine is at Duebendorf for installation of the internal systems. The plan is to have it in the air as HB-RIM next spring

Took her picture just yesterday at Oshkosh:
You can also spot her on this live webcam…presently located just behind the tail of a B-52.

This is why the new build F 13 already has a W 34 main undercarriage.
…and T-6 wheels with the Redline brake conversion. It does seem to be a well-engineered and properly thought-out concept, I wish them well with it.

Junkers used a modular system of aircraft components for several types. This is why the new build F 13 already has a W 34 main undercarriage.

A Junkers W34 might have more commercial interest !

Probably not the most economical or practical runaround for today’s GA pilot, but what a way to arrive in style! Let’s hope they sell well and get a deserved return on such a bold idea 🙂

Glad to see more of this important type being built – more importantly, it’s encouraging to see that money can still be raised for such projects – without which nothing ever progresses beyond mere aspiration. Talk is cheap – aeroplanes are not.
There is no possible correlation between other types being built/rebuilt and restored Spitfires of course. (Maybe the folk making digs at the Spitfires may wish to fund the rebuilding/building of some other types currently missing from the airworthy fleet. A Mosquito would be a nice start. I look forward to reading their progress reports.)
Hat’s off to Rimowa for walking the walk and getting a design back into the air. An aeroplane is something that flies – we already have enough dead aeroplanes. 😮

Bloody marvelous work “now, if only they could be pursuaded to build a couple of FW 200’s”.:D
