Alan Brown, the pioneer historian of research into WW2 air losses over the UK and Europe, was laid to rest yesterday at Gravesend, Kent. As the funeral cortege paused by the Thames riverside a moving fly past was performed by Peter Monk in his Spitfire against a fantastic background of a “Battle of Britain skyscape”. RIP and farewell Alan, old friend. Andy Saunders

Amen. Alan was an ardent & diligent researcher, unassuming by nature but unique in the breadth & scope of his knowledge. Few, if any, will ever match his contribution to the aviation archaeology movement in this country.
