I have only just found out that David Fiddimore died in June aged just 70.
His Charlie Basset series of books starts with Tuesday’s War, set on a thinly disguised Bourn Airfield in 1944.
Whilst not wholly serious it is a fabulous read and will give most here great pleasure.
If you haven’t read it, give yourself a treat and celebrate his passing by laying hands on a copy.

Having read one, I had to read the whole series. Agree with Moggy. Highly recommended reads.
Very sorry to hear of the author’s death – always thought he was older than 70 because his books seemed to have been written by someone “who was there”.

Thank you for the heads-up. I know his sister, Bernie, really well as she lives in the next village – but haven’t seen her in a while. I must message her. And re-read the book.
