Sadly an old friend of mine passed away last week, Flight Lieutenant William Cyril Holmes DFC
Bill flew Strilings with 149 Squadron in 1944 his aircraft was badly damaged by flack but he managed to limp his a/c home, force landing at Thorney Island, sadly the a/c burst into flames all the crew escaped but one. Bill, being badly burnt was admitted to East Grinstead and became a member of the Guinea Pig club.
I was very proud to have known him.
RiP Bill.
