Ripping Yarns & Riveting Reads.

Ive been reading quite a bit recently
my latest aquisitions were the book on Peter Vachers Hurricane and
Warbird Recovery by Gordon R Page

The Vacher book is as you would expect, never enough pictures and text to satisfy my kind of interest but a nice coffee table read.

the Warbird recovery book is a great book of piracy on the high seas. Well it felt like it. It was hard work to get through the book and feel anything but complete contempt for the way the eastern europeans treated their western ‘investors’. Still it is a good reflection on the times ..

The jewel in the crown has to be ‘Hunting Warbirds’ by Carl Hoffman.
To be honest I amazoned this in as a ‘people who bought this also..’
not expecting much from an american perspective on the Kee Bird recovery.

I have to say the book is a really fantastic read. All my expectations were smashed. If I had had high expectations, it would have smashed those also!
The story has been well covered in other books, blogs, news etc but author Carl Hoffman being an inside man on numerous recovery teams it puts the whole story from the perspective of each team and the warbird recovery experts in general (along with other recovery tales).I really recommend anyone with an interest to give the Kee Bird book a go, it is very very good read. One of the best things I have read in ages.
