I bet you even keep it in balance better than T6 flyer does, but that probably has something to do with the size of his feet!
Excuse me…….its just that I dont have any co-ordination, thats all! 🙂
I always thought that those things on the floor were footrests…like they have in Cessna 150s!

Sounds great to me, was the same when I had a go in G-AMMS. Will any flight time in my logbook help go towards my PPL? Haven’t started doing it yet, but thinking of doing so in a year or so.
Cheers, Rob
They say if you can fly an Auster you can fly anything!
For a group A licence I think you can only count flight time towards your licence in an aircraft with a public transport CofA (unless you are the sole owner) from a licenced airfield (although I believe there is a compaign to get that one changed) by a flying instructor. However any flying experience is good and would help keep the number of hours you need to do down to a minimum.
You should try looking at organisations that offer flying scholarships, The Air League do them, check out their website.

Derek

No problem Rob, always happy to encourage the younger generation, particularly those that show an interest in Vintage Aircraft.
Mind you when I say give you a ride, I actually expect you to do most of the flying when we are airborne. The Champ is great fun and very easy to fly once you get used to using your feet. I bet you even keep it in balance better than T6 flyer does, but that probably has something to do with the size of his feet!

Enjoy it, you may get places faster than you did in that photo. :p
You never bank on getting anywhere fast with an Aeronca, but at least you are logging more airborne time in the process!

A couple of pictures of the REI at Bodmin, it was down on display for the Hangar Dance the beginning of July and still there last Sunday. I will be at Eggesford with my Aeronca Champion and will be happy to give you a ride Rob, if you want to try a different Vintage type. But be warned once you fly in an Aeronca you will never want to go back to an Auster again!

I can always get one from Bodmin and bring along to Eggesford when you arrive Rob. Saw in Trago Mills (local discount store) today a Farnborough 1950s DVD which features G-AMMS doing aeros. Might get a couple next time I’m passing.

Will find out about the MK.III. At the moment its still down at Bodmin, but should be back before the Fly-In. Richard is away for a few days now, but dont think you have anything to worry about.
As other people say get a logbook as it is a wonderful thing for keeping your flying memories in. I use a Pooleys or AFE one (now on my third) and have now flown 1201 times in 223 types (all for keeping a logbook!!).

Well, I had had a quick trip on her with Phil at the wheel to see what she can do – decided standing up was the best way to travel after the fuel gauge made it rather uncomfy. Cheers for asking Martin, hopefully should be a great weekend (just hope the weather holds out), do you know how many other Austers are supposed to come down, and if the Mk III is back from Bodmin yet? Says ‘change of details in process’ on the CAA site, as well as a new photo of her. Will try and get a logbook sometime soon, anyone know where I can get one from?
Cheers, Rob

[QUOTE=Rlangham] Yep i’m going down to Eggesford on the 5th/6th August for a bit of Auster-ing, can’t wait! Did you find out if i’d be able to get a flight in G-AREI Martin? [QUOTE]
I asked Richard and he’s delighted that you are coming down and he said ‘that we will have to arrange some flights for you’. That will definately mean a Mk.9 and the MK.III and perhaps the Broussard. I’m not really that sure, but you will get a few flights.

Blimey got the worst sunburn ever at Leicester and the Brunty on the 8th – that’s why I look so shiny on TT’s pic, i’ve been plastered in suncream ever since! Doesn’t half sting when it gets into my eyes though…

Hope he packs the sun tan lotion this time!

I’d stay away from Dave T though mate – they put teenagers down the mines and eat those who dont work hard enough down West Country Way! 😀

So that’s what Ginsters put in those pasties! :diablo:

If I’d known what you looked like before I’d have said hello to you as I walked passed you at Bruntingthorpe on the 8th…..
Your cover’s been blown now, Rob. Everybody will be grabbing hold of you to say hello. So much for the low profile, eh? 😉
