RMN received the first Super Lynx.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-07-02 AT 03:53 AM (GMT)]RMN received their first of six Westland Agusta Super Lynx Mk 300 at the Farnborough Air Show yesterday.The Minister of Defence accepted the a/c on behalf of the Malaysian govt in a simple ceremony at the Agusta static display booth.
The a/c would be deliver to the RMN 499 sqn early next year and the helos will be based on the Lekiu class frigates.Armed with the SEA SKUA /STINGRAY torpedos- it will be the best naval helos in the SEA region .RMN Lynx is the first production example using the new generation engines (CTS 800+4N)+ more advanced avionics /ASW gear than the current RN mk 8 example.It is also equipped with new 7 LCD which is part of the full glass cockpit configuration.
It is interesting to note the Lynx were park next to the Canadian EH 101 SAR helos-which is the most preffered platform for the RMAF CSAR role.A group of 50+ Mindef top brass are visting the airshow to scout for a few most needed items such as AEW&C,CSAR and SHORAD for RMAF base defence.Some official source also mentioned that the Mindef group-just might arrange some undisclosed meeting with ‘certain’ top dog weapons suppliers.
