RN SB2C Helldiver camouflage

I am trying to locate plans for the camouflage worn by RN Curtiss SB2C Helldivers. I have photos of SB2C Helldiver with the Royal Navy and have seen one side profile but that’s all.

Does anyone know of any reference material or how one might obtain access to such material.

RN SB2C Helldiver camouflage

Thanks for your replies.

Actually this was triggered by that film of an RN Helldiver doing a deck landing. The number of still photos I have seen of RN Helldivers could be counted on the fingers of two hands so that film was a little gem.

Nevertheless I went off and tried to dig up all I could on the subject from books and magazines located around the house. The photos of an RN Helldiver in Brown’s “Wings of the Navy” seemed to suggest some RN camouflage but by the same token they also indicated over painted US stars and bars. Curious.

I seem to recall a magazine with camouflage details but a search of the loft did not come up with anything – still a couple of pages stuck together and I could have missed it. There must be something somewhere. If worst comes to worst I’ll write to the authorities but based on past experience amateurs like ourselves are usually much the more reliable and helpful.

There was a clip of a Helldiver in RN markings doing a rather eventful landing aboard a carrier on the DVD that came with that other aviation magazine this month. Apart from that all I can think of is a view in a Putnam’s publication, but then I could be wrong….I normally am.
