A couple of years back I got interested in the former seaplane base at Hornsea Mere in East Yorks and took a few snaps of the buildings which are still in use today.
Unfortunately , I’m have trouble posting them. Anyway I hadn’t realised that the base had been used in WW2 until I saw this article ( it even has pictures of flyingboats!)

Hornsea Mere is a lovely spot – Wildfowl, aviation history and a corking cafe!

I think that the Mere is owned by the Wassand Estate , the Cafe which is housed in one of the former base buildings has it’s own website http://www.hornseamere.com
but there’s no mention of the base history.
But I did find this site which has an interview, in 1978, with Gordon Hyams DFC a Sub Lt with the RNAS who served at the base

There is indeed still plenty to see there if you know where to look. Shame the town don’t make more of the aviation history of the Mere…
