RNAS portland (HMS osprey)

Good evening, i am wondering if anyone could help out with any pictures of aircraft using RNAS portland. A brief online information search has said it, at one point was one of the busiest places for helicopter op’s in the UK, but so far i have been unable to find many images of anything other than current use by coastguard helicopters. Also was there much use by fixed wing aircraft, i have seen that swordfish were based there, but anything more recent sea harrier’s, STOL types?

Pictures and information would be much appreciated.
Regards. Mark

“Swordfish? That’s a new one on me”

I correct myself! To busy looking for pictures and didn’t read properly!

In September 1939, 772 Squadron was formed as a Fleet Requirements Unit, operating Swordfish Floatplanes in a variety of tasks including target towing

Swordfish? That’s a new one on me.

It was a very busy heliport for many years, Wasps and Wessexes galore when I was there. Never saw a single fixed wing movement, and considering the teeny tiny ‘practical joke’ runway (200 yds or so as I recall), that’s no surprise. Can’t find my copy of ‘Flashing Blades Over The Sea’ but I think it had some Portland phots in it.
