After a very frustrating wait for paperwork to be rubber stamped, Swordfish LS326 finally got airborne again from Yeovilton early this afternoon after a very long nine years (five years since any Stringbag flew in the UK).
News update with photos HERE . Still early days and a lot still to do, so please keep checking back.
A lot of smiley faces in Hangar 17 this afternoon!!
Cheers
Lee

That’ll do for me. Having news like that to start my day nothing can upset me now. Well done all, hope you don’t have to go through all that again for some time.

‘Meanwhile VR930’s Bristol Centaurus engine has been removed from the airframe, crated up and awaits transportation to the USA for rebuild. There are on-going attempts to find and buy a spare Centaurus for VR930’

:p
….stuff calling one of the carriers HMS Prince of Wales! I believe it should be called HMS Swordfish!
If the yank fish’eads can fly B-25’s off a modern Carrier as a celebration, why can’t our navy do the same with a swordfish???

The Swordfish is an amazing aircraft, obsolete at the beginning of the war, yet soldiering on throughout it with incredible battle honours, Taranto, Bismark, and lets not forget the sacrifices made during the German Navies Channel Dash.
The fact that the RNHF have 3 potential flyers is remarkable, I look forward to seeing her at Legends.
I recall seeing 2 together in the air once, 3 would be unforgettable, perhaps if the UK’s new super carriers ever come to being built, then perhaps a bit of cash put aside by the government could see them being the first a/c to take off from their decks, imagine that, HMS Prince of Wales launching Swordfish, I bet H & S would have something to say about it.
