I was privileged to view his log book at his home while researching the early bases of the Israeli Air Force.

The log is now on display at the Roald Dahl Museum at Great Missenden.

If my poor memory serves me right we worked on a cockpit re-creation at Booker for a television programme. An amazing guy who I later had the pleasure of playing golf with.

The photo appears to be similar to others taken at Argos, a little distant from Athens. There is a picture of Hurricanes being ferried out to Greece at about the same time – perhaps Dahl took that one too? This photo is interesting as appearing to show squadron or at least individual codes, which are rare on Hurricanes in Greece.

The previous photograph was from www.roalddahl.com, and was entitled “1941 Roald Dahl rejoins his RAF squadron in Athens, Greece”

I’ve just read the second part of his autobiography ‘Going Solo’ which covers his RAF experiences. He had a camera with him and the book contains photos of his burnt Gladiator and the Hurricane he flew. Makes a great read.
