Robinson 88 prototype

Newly released pictures reveal the layout of the prototype Robinson 88, configured to carry 7 passengers + pilot. This may in turn be eclipsed by the as-yet embryonic R176, 16 seater.

The Robinson range now offers a natural progression via the popular R22, and R44.

Whats your source? As the ‘missing’ skid could be an indication of whether it is ‘legit’!

DB, you are quite correct. As I understand it, the ‘ATO’ issues (always tipping over)
could not be overcome on the monoskid varient, hence the development of the wheeled prototype.

It needs to be painted green, have a bigger door for throwing grunts out and some really incomprehensible emergency procedures for its hydraulic systems and fuel computers….then I’ll get excited 😀

Looks a little odd compared to the compact R44 and R22. Although it may work out, the natural robinson design doesnt exactly suit does it?

To be honest, I think someone had great fun on photoshop ‘making’ it 🙂

GALDRI…
Don’t hold your breath to see it in the next Jane’s …I sense a “leg-pull”.
Either that…or I’d like to see the drive shaft from the engine to the main rotor. 😀

the popular R22

Popular?

Well I suppose there are lots of them. Though they decrease by about two or three every AAIB bulletin 😮

That’s better, you’d need turbines to lift that much much weight 😉

There is a ‘hot’ version as well, seemingly.

Ugly looking eggbeater 😮 😀 😀

How are they going to power that thing? Must be a turbine of some sort. I’m not a fan of the eggbeaters, so can’t be bothered to look it up on the net.
