I hope someone can clear up a “mystery” for me. In the columbarium (cemetary) where my father’s ashes are interred, one of my father’s “neighbors” has an etched block of glass momento buried with him. The glass momento is roughly 1 inch thick and 4 x 4 inches ? The fellow is likely from Taiwan from his photo and the romanization of this Chinese name. The block of glass has etchings of a Phoenix and an F-16 overhead image superimposed over the mythical bird. There are Chinese characters etched on of course. The English characters on the glass that i remember are:
Peace Fenghuang Last Delivery November 1999 and Lockheed Martin (on the very bottom).
I am wondering how this person would have gotten such a momento.
Would he have been a ROC civil servant involved with the purchase program or maybe one of the ROCAF pilots who flew the F-16s back home? If he was a pilot it is odd that there are no service medals interred with him which is a contrast to how some of the veterans in the same columbarium are buried with.
Thanks
