Went off to my local airfield (Rochester) for their show today. Firstly to support the airfield secondly to get a few piccies of ZF581 as the guys at GEC have been rebuilding her for the last few years and today was her roll out, and very good she looks to. Well done to every one involved with her, and to the organisers of the show. I have some piccies of “Janie” and “Big Beautiful Doll” I’ll try to post them later.

Dezz – I was in the black one with the Yak nose art. It’s on our flying suit patch too!
I know a lot of the guys involved with PAFRA, so I’m always glad to give any support I can.

Curses, didn’t spot this was on. I called in the viewing area a few weeks back and saw the Lightning at the back of the car park. If it goes on the gate at Marconi, BAE systems, GEC or what ever its called this week I wonder if they will tow it down the dual carriageway? That will be a photo opportunity!
The Moth Club Tour starts from Rochester on Friday at 9am. Does anyone know if there will be many arrivals on Thursday?

YAKRIDER
It’s great that you could fly in and give support to Rochester airfield, its still under threat from greedy developers I believe, I didn’t get any piccies of the yaks, due to failing battery power (poxxy sony camera…well it is 4 years old, been thinking of updating it for a Panasonic DMCFZ10 thing, as a cannon “dogs dangles” or what ever it is, is way to expensive and coming from the “point and click” school of photography would be wasted on me anyway…) I don’t know what one you were in, but the black yak looks really cool, the other one looks very smart as well, good to see you.

The lighting does, indeed, look very good. Considering the state it was in when it arrived, saved from the scrap man I think, and in a right mess, the team really have done a excellent job on her, I don’t know if its still going “on the gate” at up at GEC but if they stick it up on a pole, I will be first up there with a big hack-saw and a fork-lift!, and push it into the little QRA type shed they have had made for that mi24 piece of $hit 😉
FLY.BUY
It does seem to get better every year and may it continue to for many years to come. One of my earliest memories of a airshow is from Rochester, I remember a aeroplane flying very low and fast across the field, and my farther saying that’s a spitfire. now I Couldn’t tell you whether it was a spitfire or a microlight!…but what ever it was it got me hooked…strange the things that stick in your mind when your 6 or 7 aint it….. anyway did you say mustang………..

This event seems to be getting better and better each year, lets not forget the two Mustangs who also attended. Well done to the organisers and those who took the time to fly their aircrafts in.Thankyou.

That Lightning looks excellent the team that have rebuilt it should be very pleased.

I flew a Yak in today, and thought that the Lightning would have been an interesting one to land on 20! Glad to see BBD and Janie there with attendant Harvards, also the AAC Historic Flight helis and Beaver. They always do a lot to support Rochester.
Flew in from NW, where the second day of the Air Britain Fly-in attracted those gorgeous Percivals from Biggin. Peter Holloway was there as well with the Miles Hawk.Had an interesting chat with him about the Ryan PT22.
A thoroughly good day, after avoiding the showers!
Had to laugh when the two microlights requested a formation low level pass over the raidio. The two Yaks took off after them and overtook them in the circuit. I’m sure they got round eventually.
