Rock Drummer And DJ In Jet Crash
Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and Hollywood disc jockey DJ AM have been critically injured in a plane crash that killed four other people.
The Learjet 60 crashed shortly after take-off from Columbia, South Carolina, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Les Dorr.
Two crew members and two passengers were killed. They have not yet been named.
“Our understanding was that the two injured were Travis Barker and DJ AM,” Mr Dorr said.
He added that the small jet had crashed onto a highway and burst into flames, apparently after a concert in Columbia.
A witness said he came across the two survivors as they stripped off their burning clothes.
Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, are in a critical but stable condition in hospital in Augusta, Georgia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said.
Barker’s marriage to former Miss USA Shanna Moakler was the subject of MTV’s Meet The Barkers reality show in 2005/06.
After the couple filed for divorce in 2006, he had a brief relationship with the socialite and reality TV star Paris Hilton.
DJ AM was formerly engaged to Nicole Ritchie, who was Ms Hilton’s sidekick in The Simple Life series.
Barker and DJ AM have been working together recently as a rock-hip-hop hybrid act known as TRV$DJAM.
They were the house band for the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month.
