ROCKY VI

I for one can’t wait to see this film, Stallone hasn’t made a decent film since IMHO Demolition Man, the story goes that aging Rocky Balboa, now in his 50s, is hard at work running a youth center when he is lured out of retirement from the ring for one last fight. No news on who tempts him out of retirement or who else will sign up for this Rocky episode.

RE: ROCKY VI

Death Race 2000 and Rollerball were true cult classics. Copland was a good film but I do think he lacks any real substantial acting ability. Action scenes? Yes he can carry them off ok, but I think that’s just about all he can do.

RE: ROCKY VI

Copland was good, he really showed some vague acting-ability. Perhaps the only other time he showed to be an actor was in the brilliant crying-with-Col-Trautman scene at the end of First Blood.

Anyone seen Death Race 2000? Definately Stallone´s most obscure film, a must-see for those in to cult film stuff.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-12-02 AT 09:22 PM (GMT)]Sly’s best film is definitely First Blood, also worth a mention are Rocky, Lock Up, Cliffhanger and Copland, but as far as Rocky VI is concerned the words dead, flogging and horse spring to mind.:P

Its a fact that most action stars don’t win many oscars or emmy’s because they are in a whole different genre. An action flick has much greater emphasis on effects, the focul point being the main hero/star, whereas a romantic drama, thriller or comedy drama tends to concentrate on the script, plot and “acting ability” of the main draw.

Sly won best picture for rocky all because of his own genius and craft.

I was with you right until you said ‘since’…… I don’t think he’s ever made a truly great film, his two best being ‘First Blood’ and the one where he plays a deaf Sheriff. I sometimes wonder whether we will get to Rocky 27-The Final Showdown.
