Hello all
I am looking for a Rolls Royce Griffon as a trade for some Whitley items. There must be a museum out there with a spare one kicking around!
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Does Anybody know of a static Griffon?
This is what it is for (Firefly).
Hi Brian,
You mean you are going to fit it into that mini in the photo…:D
Now, if we done what we thought of, one evening at group leaders all those years ago, we would all have had a griffon each ….:dev2:
cheers

You could always ask the chap with the Shack’ at Long Marston.
Failing that, according to Wiki there’s a few in Cyprus.

Wish I’d had the space to keep these beauties when the Shacks were scrapped
(Outside Williamson’s yard, Elgin, early 1990s)

Intended for a motor boat engine, Burghead 1980s – and no, none of them are still there!

Oh Yes, it is truly a sight and sound to behold π the Griffon has a gorgeous crackle to it !! π
P.s. pete has an ‘events list’ of show dates on his website….
Kenb’o
Thanks to you all for your kind comments. If you get half the enjoyment watching as we do playing with the engines, then it`s all worthwhile.
Just a comment about the events list Kenb`o mentioned, I have just this minute updated it, something I should have done ages ago!
We have two more events at Duxford yet, which means two more opportunities for Steve Kingman to get a “Merlin Fix”. In view of his day-job he really should know better!

You could try contacting ‘Merlin Pete’ he posts on here fairly regularly, or, try his website http://members.lycos.co.uk/pwgrieve/ he runs and maintains a Griffon58 (as well as 2 merlins and an Alvis Leonides!) I’m guessing he’d have a good idea regarding rarity and/or spares.
Good luck π

Doesn’t really need to be a good one! π
good ones are, since they are still used for tractor pulls and spares for runners
