Aero-engine maker Rolls-Royce has signed a £100m deal with Hong Kong’s Dragonair to maintain the Trent 700 engines used in the airline’s fleet of Airbus A330s.
The package covers maintenance of five A330 aeroplanes and is valued at $160m by Rolls-Royce’s Derby-based civil aerospace division.
David Lui, Dragonair’s general manager of engineering, said: “This agreement expands an excellent working relationship with Rolls-Royce that spreads across our Airbus fleet.”
Rolls-Royce makes the Trent 700 aero engines at its plant in Derby.
Maintenance will be carried out at Hong Kong Aero Engine Services, a joint venture including Rolls-Royce, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO) and Singapore Airlines Engineering Company.
About half the 25 customers and operators of Trent 700-powered A330 aircraft have signed up for the company’s maintenance package.
Dragonair, which was established in 1985, uses its A330s on regional routes to mainland China and throughout Asia.
