Rootes Blenheim (Bisley) MkV hatch ?

I bought this from the Duxford disposal section on ebay as an unknown last week.

Got home today and a quick check shows the metal parts all have R2 inspectors stamps and 140 part numbers.

The R2 is Rootes Securities and they made Blenheims and Halifax.

The part number does not conform to the Halifax but is close to the Blenheim 142 – 149 part numbers.

A quick check of my Blenheim books shows an identical looking asymmetric three panel removable hatch on the nose of the Bristol Blenheim mk V ( Bisley) – early version without bulge. Panels being of the same varying size and the panel being curved more on one side.

The only concern I have is the the Bisley was 160 and not 140.

It is wood with doped fabric covering an aluminium outer. Dzus fasteners

Any Bristol Blenheim experts out there who can confirm?

I managed to get the time to give the hatch a clean and tidy today.

It is cleaning up well but will need complete dismantling to repair the perspex panels..

When compared to the Blenheim V image ( from internet ) it is a perfect match for the Navigaors hatch.

It measures at 4 ft long on longect side.

I assume that there are no Blenheim V’s remaining that need a hatch ?

These are some of the best images I can find of the panel in a partly removed state from a crashed MkV

Not the prettiest of machines.
