After much hard work the brand new Royal Navy Historic Flight website is now up and running with information on all of the aircraft, pilots, groundcrew and display dates together with a shop and details of this year’s Fly Navy Heritage Day to be held at RNAS Yeovilton in September, aimed at raising funds to keep these lovely unique aircraft flying.
There are still a few minor tweaks left to do, but please take a few minutes to have a look, at….http://www.royalnavyhistoricflight.org.uk

Though the RN do give a degree of financial support, it certainly isn’t on the same scale as the BBMF.
Swordfish LS326 hasn’t flown for several years now, and W5856’s last season was in 2003. Both aircraft have been grounded since then due to suspected corrosion in the wing main spars. Work has concentrated on LS326, which has been completely re-wired in the meantime, and the engine currently fitted to W5856 will be fitted to LS326 later this year when the wings have been returned from Brough where they have been completely refurbished thanks to BAES. W5856’s wings will follow suit.
More details on the Flight can be found at the website.
Hi Lee,
With all this work on LS326, will it emerge in a new paint scheme?

As Taken from the IWM website:
Flying Legends Air Show – Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July 2006
This unique and spectacular air show is firmly established as the warbird show in Europe, featuring a matchless selection of the great propeller-driven combat aircraft of two World Wars. In beautifully staged and choreographed flying sequences, classic American and European fighters take to the sky with both days culminating in the emotive spectacle of the mass flypast finale. The veterans, the pilots, the aircraft and the atmosphere are all here in this wonderful, nostalgic two-day action experience.

Re: RNHF website
Hiya Lee!
Damned good effort so far – i like it! Could you suggest to the shop staff that they get some of the reprint flying manuals in? You know the pilots notes publications!
all the best,
tim

Sorry Lee, just trying to be helpful. It seems to be called Flying Legends on the IWM site and The Fighter Collection site but you have it listed as Fighter Meet in your airshow apperances. Sorry not really my area, I will now return to hiding under a stone. 😮

What’s happening on the Isle of Wight on July 30th?
Is it a private event?
Cowes Week I believe. The displays programme is still very much in the melting pot and will hopefully be finalised this coming week when everyone is back from the London Airshow.

If you’re looking for little things though, is Flying Legends now called Fighter Meet? 😉
Not according to the Duxford website itself.

Nice sight there Lee, simple and well laid out. I look forward to seeing the Chipmunk at Leicester and the Sea Hawk at Kemble later in the year. 🙂

Ah, you spotted the deliberate mistake to see if someone was actually reading it!! 😀
Duly corrected! 🙂

Great looking site and very informative, but one small niggle in the news section with Jock Moffett it calls the bismarck a battlecruiser when it certainly is not (like calling Belfast a destroyer).

Thanks Don. As I say, there are still a few glitches to iron out, and the issue of the News page having to scroll to the right is something we’ve already identified as needing attention.
Keep re-visiting! Hopefully we’ll have something sorted soon.
