Hi all,
incidently, I came across an article in an old Dutch Aviation Magazine (1963) , in which someone revealed that he had seen 19 (!) former RN Sea Furies on the fire dump of Deelen AFB (e.g. WE800, WE790, WE792, WG594….)
Can anybody explain me why the RN had sold their pride and joy to the NL only to have them set afire?
(If only I could have managed to grab those matches/lighters :diablo: )

Firepractise Sea Furies
Swapped with Hawkers for Hunters…
(BTW, nor the Sea Fury, nor the Hunter should have ended up at this place)

All the above mentioned aircraft were sold back to Hawkers who in turn sold them to Holland for the LETS Fire School Grot Heidekom, information from ‘FAA Fixed Wing Aircraft since 1946’ by Air Britian

Aerovet – I guess the had come to the end of their service with the Dutch Navy and had been replaced by Sea Hawks. Sea Furies on fire dumps and in scrapyards were not a rare sight in the late 1960’s .
