Bought the above 1943 dated gauge off eBay and it arrived today and has a very faded label attached just with MJ177 in pencil on it. It would seem this relates to a Spitfire that was supplied to the indian airforce as a two seat trainer. Is it likey that this gauge could be from this airframe? Or am I barking up the wrong tree and MJ177 refers to something other than the aircraft serial number?
