RR Merlin Engine Part

I am doing some research for a good friend of mine. When his Granddad passed away, he left my friend a part from the Spitfire engine that he flew during the war and was consequently gunned down. We have identified here from the engine it came from, but I would like to see if it is possible to get more information on the part, the aircraft and its origin. The part is a support / Bearing bracket for the cam shaft. .there are a few numbers stamped into the part. So I am thinking these numbers relate to many things. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction to get further information. The numbers and letters stamped on the part as as follows

SZ2

B6

D14469F

XG

RR566

Photographs are available on request

Thanks

Sorry, but it is very unlikely that there is anything stamped on it that would identify the individual aircraft that it came from.

I’m far from an expert on the Merlin but from what you listed D14469F is the part number I think (Merlin parts start with a ‘D’) and RR566 is probably an inspectors stamp; the other numbers probably identify material batches and production batches so that, if the part was to fail in service, other possibly faulty parts could be traced.
