After someone commented on another thread about how nice it was to see a pair of Trents on an aeroplane I thought I’d show a pic I took the other week of a pair of Trents on one side after a wet arrival into Jo’burg the other week. Not the most dynamic of pics but the reason I find it interesting is when you compare the size of the engine to the 2 guys alongside it!

Hmm… I’m not entirely convinced of that!
Anyway, those engines are for girls. This is a very poor photo snapped through the window at LHR early last year (incidentally just as I was about to board a BA 747 with nice big RB-211’s), but it serves well to illustrate how the Trent 800 is definately NOT a girls engine.

The engine cowlings on the 777 are the same diameter as the fuselage of a Boeing-737!!! That applies to all the engines, but of course the Trent is one of them!

Just on sheer size alone,it probably makes the RB211-534’s on the BA 744 look like a set of dustbusters.
