Should have checked the info first, looked in “The Book” found four pictures of 2-seat Spitfires showing the second cockpit door open, u learn something every day !

I stand corrected, having read duff gen ! in the latest society journal of a certain famous aeroplane (mention no names) concerning the story, history and information about SM520, and quote
“GILDA unlike other 2-seater Spitfires has a cockpit door for the rear cockpit”
so never having seen anybody get into/out of a two seater Spitfire…..

i thought i was picking up on the latest mod incorporated into the IX(T), with the second cockpit door, i take it this’ll be the second so done ? 😮
I don’t understand your point either – all T.9’s (and the prototype T.8) have a second door and have done so since the 40’s…..

Hi Woodbridge10, I see your point but there are those on this forum that associate “new” with data plate rebuild which this is certainly not. Yes this is the second T9 to come from our workshop, the first being SM520. Im glad we gave you an insight as to what goes into these restorations .

Hey Woodbridge 10 when you came down to our workshop you were amazed at the work we do ! So why knock this ?

Evening Steve “P”
Not knocking your work mate, you guys do amazing work and produce some great stuff, yeah it was a great visit, we had a great day, throughly enjoyable and a privilege to see what does on in the rebuild of a Spit, i was trying to be lighthearted with a jovial comment, that obviously backfired, i thought i was picking up on the latest mod incorporated into the IX(T), with the second cockpit door, i take it this’ll be the second so done ? 😮

[QUOTE=ZRX61;1983255]It might help if they knew the difference between a rivet & a bolt..
Yes I agree but still, at least they know the difference between To, Too, Their, There and They’re, unlike the youngsters on this forum.

…..before adding Merlin engines. Thought they only had one
People should not write about stuff they don’t know or don’t research!

It might help if they knew the difference between a rivet & a bolt..
A Battle of Britain nut has built a Spitfire from scratch – after being given a rivet from one of the World War II planes as a gift.
Martin Phillips was challenged to build the legendary fighter plane by friends, who handed over a single bolt to get his project off the ground.
I’ve got thousands of those rivets he’s shown holding… maybe I should team up with Cundall? 😉

[QUOTE=Discendo Duces;1983037]How did a Spitfire wing come to be lying in a hedge in Devon?
…….missed the last crate to Burma?

Discendo, you foolish boy. It was obviously having a rest and probably taking advantage of the glorious English summers and sunbathing

Martin Phillips does have more than one Spitfire.
Two seater BS410 is well advanced. Attached a shot from June 2010 c/o Airframe Assemblies on the I.O.W.
Somebody should write a book about all this Spitfire nonsense.
