RuAF getting Su-35?!

——————

As they reported to a Krasnaya Zvezda correspondent at the air force press center, the Marshal of Aviation Kozhedub Center for Display of Air Force Aviation Equipment, which is in the Moscow suburb Kubinka, fleet of combat aircraft will be supplemented in the near future by the promising Su-35 fighters.

This fighter is a major upgrade of the world renowned Su-27, as a result of which the effectiveness of its combat application has grown significantly. It is intended for the destruction of existing and future aerial targets, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles and maneuvering targets against an earth background day and night, in good and poor weather conditions, and also the destruction of ground or surface targets with different guided weapons, including precision, without entering the enemy’s air defense zone.

For improvement of maneuverability and takeoff and landing performance, the airplane is equipped with a canard. It also is equipped with an in-flight refueling system. The required stability and control performance are provided by a quadruple redundancy digital fly-by-wire system (SDU).

For purposes of effective negotiation of an enemy’s anti-air defense, the Su-35 is able to fly at low altitudes in automated terrain flight mode, flying around and avoiding obstacles. The fighter is equipped with a multirole, multimode new generation radar with a phased array, capable of detecting and tracking up to 20 aerial targets and simultaneously firing at 8 of them. The Su-35 armament is located on 12 suspension points and includes air-to-air and air-to-ground guided missiles, and also conventional and guided aerial bombs of various sizes and purposes and incendiary tanks. It has a built-in 150-round GSh-301 cannon. The fighter’s maximum takeoff weight is more than 34,000 kg, and its combat payload is 8,000 kg. The maximum flight speed at sea level is 1,400 km/hour, and at altitude it is equal to M-2.35. Practical ceiling is 18,000 m., and maximum G-loading is 9 G. The Su-35 can cover 3,300 km without refueling and 6,500 km with refueling.

The Su-35 possesses huge combat capabilities and occupies an intermediary position between airplanes of the fourth and fifth generation. The practice and experience of local wars shows that aerial combat, having many phases and stages, as a rule, transitions into a dog fight phase. The Su-35 in the best way possible is intended for this. The ultra high maneuverability of an airplane which vividly becomes apparent, for example, during the execution of “Pugachev’s cobra,” allows extending the capabilities of the use of on-board weapons and realizing the break off of an enemy fighter’s attack, and to exit the damage envelop of his weapons. The equipage with AL-31FP engines with vectored thrust control and integrated with the SDU allows the execution of aerobatic maneuvers at low speeds all the way to nearly zero without limitations on angle of attack.

The large quantity of variants of different armament being used, modern equipment and high flight performance allow the Su-35 to resolve the most diverse tactical tasks. It remains to add that to fly on modern combat aircraft, such as the Su-35, is the dream of many fighter pilots. And it soon will be fulfilled, at least at the Marshal of Aviation Kozhedub Air Force Center for Display of Aviation Equipment.

Su-35 Airplanes Joining Inventory of Air Force Flight Center in Kubinka

Future Su-35 combat airplanes will join the inventory of the air force’s Marshal of Aviation Kozhedub aviation equipment display in the Moscow suburb of Kubinka, the air force chief of aviation and deputy commander-in-chief, General-Lieutenant Aleksandr Zelin, reported on Thursday to Interfax-AVN.

“In the near future, the Su-35 will join the inventory at our world renowned aviation and flying center at the Kubinka air base, A. Zelin declared.

He reported that air force development prospects provide for the adoption into the inventory of new aviation complexes of the Su-35 type.

“The Su-35 possesses huge combat capabilities and occupies an intermediary position between airplanes of the fourth and fifth generation,” the agency source declared.

For the time being the given type of airplanes has not found widespread use in the air force because of limited state resources, he said.

“The adoption of the Su-35 into the inventory will allow the resolution of tasks by smaller forces against anti-aircraft defense and the opening of wide capabilities for their use against ground with both guided and unguided munitions,” the deputy CinC reported.

According to him, this will allow effectively resolving the tasks of achieving air superiority beyond visual range and in dogfights ((V VOZDUSHNYKH DAL’NIKH I BLIZHNIKH VYSOKOMANEVRENNYKH BOYAKH)).

“The dogfight is a fundamental calling of a fighter of the present and the future,” A. Zelin declared.

The practice and experience of local wars shows that the dogfight has a many phases and stages and always, as a rule, the fights transition into a phase of highly maneuverable fights, the agency source explained. “In my view, these trends will be maintained also in the future. The ultra high maneuverability of an airplane which vividly becomes apparent, for example, during the execution of “Pugachev’s cobra,” allows extending the capabilities of the use of on-board weapons and realizing the break off of an enemy fighter’s attack, and to exit the damage envelop of his weapons,” A. Zelin said.

The multirole Su-35 fighter is a further development of the design thought in the Su-27 family of fighters. The most modern aerodynamics, a new control system, improved radar ((RLS)) capabilities, and the ability to operate against ground targets are its characteristics. The Su-35, equipped with a new on-board RLS with an active phased array, is capable of detecting and tracking up to 20 targets and firing at 8 of them.

In all in the ‘90s of the last century a series of Su-35 fighters numbering not fewer than 10 aircraft was built.[/quote]

What the hell are they talking about? I thought Su-35s were ALREADY there?
