RuAF vs USAF, even today?

I know the cold war is over, but do you think it is still there. For example the USAF/USN and USMC still have aggressor squadrons that use F-5s, F-16s and F-15s that ‘pretend’ to be Flankers, even today. Or do they? (this is just 1 small example of a ‘continuing’ cold war in the military – there are many others)

I think this ‘cold war’ thinking is more prelevant in the airforces of both Russia and the USAF, and maybe the RAF. For example, doesn’t every Raptor pilot constantly think about destroying Su-27s when he thinks of A2A combat?

When I think of any thoughts of ‘fighter vs fighter’ I always think of Flanker vs Viper, Typhoon vs Fulcrum, F3 hunting Bears, B-2 penertrating Moscow air space, Backfires destroying USN ships etc etc

Why is it Russia still seem to be ‘the bad guys’, even though I was 10 years old when the Berlin wall come down? Does anybody elese here think the same?

Imagine if Sukhoi and Lockheed combined and created multiple types. Wouldn’t they be the ultimate aircombat aircraft? But what would be the point?

It just seems dropping PGMs on mud huts and firing Hellfires at Toyota pick ups seems OTT.

Sorry to rant on..I will some up my point If Russia and the US/EU become allies. Would an aircraft like the F-22/PAK-FA be needed?
