Last night some scrotile low-lifes stole a caravan from Popham and also chewed up 03/21 but driving around and skidding on it.
The runway will need flattening and considerable work to get it serviceable again.

That is great news. I may pop over and inspect this weekend if the weather holds out. 🙂

Is the runway open again yet? What is the update?
All of this has been compounded by the wet weather. 21/03 is still wet but the damage has been rolled out. The whole airfield has been closed on an off due to the weather. Today was a lot better and people were flying off 26 and landing on 21 as the wind was southerly and the bottom end of 21 was still wet. It is all drying out nicely though (for the moment)

Seriously? Jeez…although after the tales I have heard from a neighbour of mine who was a boy in blue for 20 years, I am somehow not surprised 🙁

I’m a little further ahead now – the lock is nearly out and the steering lock is off.
I could start the car.
If the battery wasn’t flat… gaaaagh

Someone walked into the house and stole my missus’ handbag (£80, 2 mobiles £60 bottle of perfume, cards etc) and my car keys. Still without my car because I can’t get the filler cap off or get the ignition barrel out.
Bummer.

… driving around and skidding on it.
Spin training perhaps?
Perhaps that’s too controversial to discuss right now {ref. “Bemused” thread}.

What form did the chavving take?

A replacement for fox hunting? There’s a nice thought. How about a law that requires all dangerous dogs to be trained to attack Burberry?

With a large area you can’t cover it all, there was apparently someone there when the caravan was pinched. Obviously there is more of a watch over the aircraft than the runway.
In my usual spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation, I would like to get hold of the little, er, devils, and hold them upside down to beat the lumps out with their heads in the manner of those old tamping sticks they use on tarmac.
If they catch the wee scumbags drop me a mail . Get me the address , I’ve always wanted to visit Popham anyway . 🙂

Chav hunter – a new computer game perhaps?
Or a replacement for fox hunting?
What form did the chavving take? 🙁

Didn’t really mind. It was early summer, they were sliding on the dew rather than cutting great ruts, and it is quite reassuring to know that the police do visit our somewhat isolated strip.

I want to be able to have a handgun – was never in favour before, but after being chavved over the Christmas break I firmly believe that shooting the gits is perfectly justified. I’m sure Melv is with me on this one.

Caught one at it early one morning. I was going to report him to the police but I wondered how they would react to the description
“Well it was a predominately white Vauxhall Astra, about two years old, with a dayglo orange and blue reflective stripe, a blue beacon on the roof and the word “POLICE” inscribed in big, friendly letters on the side”

Sorry to hear about the runway, Melv, incidences like this make me want to wring the culprits necks until their eyes pop out…and that’s just for starters 😡

We have some problems at LKI with the local chavs handbraking on the strip.
Mostly it does no great harm, but I wish they wouldn’t do it when the ground is really soft. The Colt doesn’t mind much. but the based PA28 seems a little more picky about the surface.

It’s not even jealousy, just a complete lack of respect for anyone else’s property or feelings..
I do hope that you find out who they are. If you do find out, please allow me to come to the counselling sessions that need to take place in order to make these poor, misdunderstood and underpriviledged members of our society appreciate the harm and upset that thier actions cause [1].

[1] That will be giving them a damned good kicking, followed by a slow, painful castration I hope.

Idiots, have witted idiots.
I take it there is no security at night?
Wrong, even half wits have more sense than that. Amzing what stupidity jealousy makes people get up to isn’t it?

Melvin,
there was also a burnt out car in the field at the far end by service station which had also been seen skidding over the more distant runway.
Perhaps Mr R should invest in some landmines ?
Sorry to have missed the Rearwin on NYD – I left 12.30ish in the rain so must have just missed it.
