Russia flogging MiG-27s to Serbia?

This simply must be one of those stupid journo-mistakes that crop up from time to time to call their whole profession into question:

FARNBOROUGH (U.K.), July 15 (RIA Novosti) – Russian aircraft maker MiG said on Tuesday it had completed a flight test program on four MiG-27 Flogger ground-attack aircraft for Serbia’s Air Force.

“We are announcing the news for the first time today,” MiG CEO Vladimir Barkovsky said at the Farnborough world air show.

Frankly, if this is true it can compete for the weirdest military acquisition prize for 2008*.

* perhaps we could come up with some sort of title for a prize like that (the Pinochet… or some other dictator famous for buying unusual, often useless, kit).
